Solving Pirate Mystery Story Will Encourage Children to Use Their Imaginations

South Hadley, MA (PRWEB) October 29, 2007 -- Most children would agree that stumbling across a hidden cavern containing a 300-year-old pirate mystery and clues to an ancient treasure would be a rather ideal way to spend their summer vacation. Curious cousins Ronnie and Joe fall into this ultimate adventure in Lisa Maria Lanno's imaginative and educational children's book, "The Secret Cave" (ISBN 9780595405855, iUniverse, 2006).

Ronnie and Joe are vacationing in scenic New England with their families over the summer, and during an exploratory hike through the woods, they spot an enormous skull-shaped rock. Near the unusual rock, Ronnie and Joe find an old leather pouch containing a note written in a puzzling rhyme. Although the boys are bent on deciphering the note, they must be careful not to arouse the suspicions of their parents or sisters if they want to keep their exciting discovery all to themselves.

Sisters can be rather nosy though, and it doesn't take long before young Anna and Emily and teenagers Valerie and Genevieve discover what their brothers are up to. "The Secret Cave" follows the six adventurers as they struggle to solve an assortment of cryptic clues, which lead them to a secret cave, the infamous diary of the Bardwell Pirates, a skeleton hand and a pirate named Spike.

When the young explorers discover that ancient pirate treasure might be hidden nearby, they engage in a dangerous midnight romp, which proves that "The Secret Cave" isn't quite as secure as they thought. Inspired by Disney World's "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride, & Epcot's "World of Imagination","The Secret Cave" is a fun-filled, kidcentric story, sure to bring readers to the edges of their seats with excitement.

Children will enjoy reading "The Secret Cave" because the main characters range from age 8 to 16, so kids will easily be able to see themselves in the story. "The Secret Cave" also promotes imagination and education with "Stop and Think" questions at the end of each chapter that encourage readers to think about what will happen next or what they would do if they were one of the characters. An index of vocabulary words (printed in bold italics throughout the story) is also included at the end of the book.
